Prospective Students / Daily Life & Activities
As a Shepherds College student, you'll live in an environment that is designed to promote your emotional, spiritual, and intellectual growth. Each day, you will grow toward independence in many areas of your life. Aside from attending classes, the Residential Life program at Shepherds College provides students with opportunities to build lasting friendships, explore the community, and serve others. Residential Life goes way beyond homework and house cleaning. Students enjoy activities both during the week and on weekends that allow them to form relationships with each other and with members of their community.
Throughout your time at Shepherds, you’ll learn to write out a menu on a weekly basis for what you want to cook and eat. Then you’ll prepare a shopping list using the menu you’ve created and travel to a grocery store to purchase the items on your list. Back in your living area, you’ll have the job of unloading the car and putting groceries away. After you have all the ingredients, you’ll be able to put your daily living skills to work by making your own meals.
As a student, you can develop an understanding of service by doing community projects together. You may help serve in local churches, the community or help out at a Chamber of Commerce event. There are always many opportunities to serve on campus too!
Spiritual growth is an important part of student life. You can attend a local church where you will hear God's Word and be encouraged to share the love of Christ to others. On a weekly basis, you will be able to participate in a time to learn together and grow. You will learn that you have a lot of responsibility as young men and women, and God wants to do amazing things through you.
Students have the opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics program. You can join teams like bowling or basketball which allows you to stay healthy and fit and also to minister and show God's love to people all over Wisconsin at games. Besides, it's also a lot of fun!
Other kinds of activities may include taking field trips to see movies, gardens, historical sites, plays, visit coffee houses, bowling, laser tag and even water parks! New activities get introduced to students all the time, so there is never a dull moment!
