Is College in Your Future?
Hello students! Are you ready for a college experience where you can learn, have fun and prepare for an enjoyable career? At Shepherds College, we want those things for you as well. We know how important picking a college is, but also how tough it can be to find one that fits your needs, personality and interests. Shepherds College was designed just for students like you, and we expect that you will love it here.
What Will You Learn?
When choosing which college to attend, looking at programs of study that interest you is important. Shepherds College focuses on classes in Horticulture, Culinary Arts, and Technology, and teaches each student things like developing a spiritual life and independent living abilities. You will learn academic skills like understanding and using math and money in everyday life, language arts, and computer skills in addition to career skills.
All of the things you will learn and do here will prepare you to have a successful adult life.
Where Will You Live?
The most exciting thing when starting college is learning as much as you can about where you will be staying and what you will be doing. Our campus is located in Union Grove, Wisconsin, a small community with a history of accepting people with intellectual disabilities. Over the three years in the program, you may be living in a dorm, group home, and an apartment, moving toward more independence and more responsibility as your skills grow. On a regular basis, you will go to the grocery store and buy food that you can prepare back at your apartment with friends. These types of activities will help you apply what you learn in class to real-life situations.
The campus also has great walking paths, a bocce ball court, and the Bolthouse Center gym where you can play sports, or work out. Shepherds College has a history of participation in the Special Olympics, and you will have the opportunity to join a team if you'd like. There is always something for you to do here, and really great people to do it with. Talk with your parents about it. You can all learn more about Shepherds College by calling Scott Perkins, Director of Admissions.
